hsr/ny Helps New York Dream "The Dream" for The 2012 Olympic Games

23 Sep 2004

September 23, 2004 -- As part of the continuing campaign to bolster New York City"s bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, hsr/ny has once again completed the audio post on a :60 spot (with a :30 cutdown) created for NYC2012 by DDB New York. This time next year the International Olympic Committee will name the Host City for 2012. To support The Dream, and New York"s quest to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to the City, hsr/ny engineer Glenn Navia mixed the spots which should begin airing in New York this fall.

Composed mostly from archive footage, the spots remind us that "For 400 years they (immigrants) have come from all backgrounds, all corners of the world. And they come every year, 100,000 a year. They toil, struggle and dream and slowly they carve a life for themselves. After fulfilling so many dreams, New York has a dream of its own - to host the 2012 Olympic Games. 8 million people. 5 boroughs. 1 dream. NYC2012 candidate city. Let the dreams begin."

Navia completed the audio post utilizing a Fairlight QDC editor, Soundtracs DS-3 digital mixing console, Steinberg Wavelab 5.0 running on a 3.2 Gig Athlon PC for spot mastering, Sony (Sonic Foundry) Vegas Video 4.0 running on a 3.2 Gig Athlon PC for video playback and Lexicon PCM 60 digital reverb.

DDB New York Producer Scott Kemper said of his experience working with hsr/ny, "Everyone at hsr is continually so accommodating and Glenn has such a great ear. Not to mention, he's a great guy. I work with him whenever I can."

Representing DDB New York (New York, NY) were Chairman/Chief Creative Officer and Executive Creative Director Lee Garfinkel, Executive Creative Director John Russo, Art Director Barbara Eibel, Copywriter Mark Teringo, and Producer/Music Producer Scott Kemper.

A Cool Dry Place (New York, NY) Editor Chris Bonanni was responsible for the offline. Visual Effects Director Arman Matin of Rhinofx (New York, NY) provided the postproduction. The musical underscore was composed by Neil Goldberg of Heavy Melody Music (New York, NY).

The spot was created from stock footage obtained from The Library of Congress (Washington, DC), John E. Allen, Inc. (Park Ridge, NJ), Getty Images (Los Angeles, CA) and Steeplechase Films (New York, NY).

hsr/ny, one of the nation"s pre-eminent audio facilities serving feature film, advertising, television, and radio, is headquartered at 420 Lexington Avenue,
