Internet Gambling Rule could be appealed by the US
8 Nov 2004
The dispute about Internet gambling failed to be cleared up in a series of talks held at the end of which Antigua and Barbuda said it would ask the WTO organisation to intervene. The US claims internet gambling should be prohibited because it violates US state laws, but Antigua and Barbuda says the position is contrary to global trading laws. The WTO will rule on the issue, but if a country feels it has been unfairly supported it can appeal a decision. This dispute comes at a time when both the US and the UK are talking about reviewing gambling laws on a wider basis. |
